Job Description
The primary role of the traction power engineer/designer is to perform system integration tasks for SCADA and Remote Monitoring Systems. Systems include Traction Power, Emergency Trip Station (ETS), tunnel ventilations, station electrical and mechanical equipment.
Technical Duties & Responsibilities:
• Review project designs and submittals
• Attend project meetings
• Develop specifications and drawings
• Attend factory testing
• Perform troubleshooting
• Perform verification and acceptance testing
• Develop Engineering Modification Instructions
Required Education, Experience & Competencies:
• Minimum BSEE degree.
• Minimum three (3) years technical hands-on field experience.
• Experience working on electrified transit agency properties.
• Fluent understanding of electrical power control and interconnection diagrams.
• Hands-on experience with test instruments including meters, scopes, analyzers, debuggers, simulators, etc.
• Technical knowledge of Electrical Power Systems, Traction Power Automation field devices and HVAC control systems.
• Experience implementing Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) is desirable.
• Experience in programming Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) which will include digital relays, digital meters, electronic monitors, thermostats, UPS systems, rectifiers, transformers, and other generic IEDs.
• Proficient in the use of PC with knowledge of Microsoft Windows PC hardware including NIC, video cards, modems, USB ports, serial & parallel ports, etc.
• Experience with various PC application software including Microsoft Suite and AutoCAD.
Desired Education, Experience, Competencies & Education:
• PE license is preferred.
