DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general direction, this position is primarily responsible for managing and maintaining the GA-ASI Aviation Safety Program IAW DCMA 8210.1 for the Flight Operation Department at the Flight Operations Facilities.
*Serve as alternate Aviation Safety Official (ASO)
*Serve as Human Factors Council Chairman and Human Factors Board Chairman
*Manage an active Mishap Prevention Program
*Conduct regular safety audits and assessments
*Maintain historical record of all flight related mishaps and report as same
*Serve as a member of the investigation team for all GA-ASI flight related mishaps
*Track aviation ground and flight mishaps, report on same and analyze trends
*Provide recommendations to the FOM, ASO and Director for resolution of identified hazards and adverse trends
*Responsible for monthly safety awareness meetings. Responsible for coordinating required periodic safety training.
*Plan and execute pre and post-holiday Safety Stand downs
If qualified, may also perform duties as Predator crew member, either sensor operator or pilot with limited deployments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Typically requires education/formal training equivalent to the completion of a Bachelors degree in aviation or aviation safety or a related technical field and five or more years progressively complex experience. Additional professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education. Must demonstrate a complete understanding of industrial hygiene and/or occupational safety principles, concepts, theories, regulations and practices; and have comprehensive skills including organizing, planning, scheduling and coordinating workloads to meet established deadline or milestones. Must possess (1) the ability to resolve moderately complex technical problems; (2) strong verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report and present findings; (3) strong presentation skills in order to conduct training for all levels of employees; (4) strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with all levels of employees, senior management and outside representatives; (5) the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; and, (6) strong computer skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a D.O.D. Secret Clearance.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Predator qualified Pilot or Sensor Operator. Military experience including accident investigation desired.
