Warehouse Speciality Gas Filler

JOB SUMMARY:

To fill specialty gases and maintain the Quality Assurance program for conformance to the appropriate product/cylinder specification.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This presupposes that the employee involved in the filling of specialty gases is well versed in basic cylinder filling procedures and properties of gases being used as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures as well as familiar with applicable federal, state and local laws.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge and skill requirements for the filling of special pure gases and gas mixtures include:

Cylinder selection
Internal cylinder preparation
Cylinder prefill checks
Cylinder valves
Cylinder filling equipment
Mixture feasibility
Mixture calculation
Cylinder filing procedures
Labeling
Painting
Calibration of required instrumentation
Responsibilities also include assisting in the functions of other classifications as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

o High School Diploma or Equivalent.
o Familiar with general filling procedures of compressed gases
o Familiar with safe handling practices of compressed gases
o Familiar with basic analytical functions
o Must be able to operate analytical software package after appropriate training
o Familiar with CGA pamphlets V-1, S-1.1, and S-7 after appropriate training
o Must Maintain, Review and File all medical gas paper work in accordance with Airgas Medical Gas Manual
o Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.
o Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
o Ability to work flexible schedule to meet management requirements and customer expectations
o Ability to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.
o Ability to operate in a drug-free workplace

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Ability to perform very heavy work routinely lift 25 to 75 lb., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lb.Also required to push and pull liquid containers weighing up to 1000 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.
Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, feeling and repetitive motion required.
Ability to perform work during occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and finger activities including the tightening of ratchet binders.
Must be able to safely drive a forklift.
Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
Must be able to work outdoors in temperatures ranging from -10 to over 100 degrees.
Talk to and hear customers/co-workers as well as smell/hear leaking gas from cylinders.
