Job Description

Clinical Vocabulary Expert

IT solutions for better care, better business and better outcomes



At CGI, we deliver a full suite of health IT solutions that improve the health industry. Our solutions reduce operating costs, advance the quality of care, and promote public health with an emphasis on electronic medical records (EMR), health information exchange (HIE), quality initiatives and operational efficiency improvements. CGI is currently looking for Public Health professionals in our Atlanta, GA, offices to join an exciting project team that will work to develop and enhance the IT systems.



Clinical Vocabulary Expert:



Maintain standard vocabularies and content management within CDC applications

Create requirements and documentation for all aspects of a commercial vocabulary mapping

Create test procedures and documentation to ensure vocabulary content is acceptable for deployment

Develop requirements for the automated delivery of vocabulary updates to CDC applications

Ensure adherence to good medical informatics practice

Troubleshoot vocabulary related issues as it relates to customer support problems

Evaluate new medical informatics terminologies and standards

Work with the vocabulary mapping team to give guidance on optimal vocabulary mapping strategies





Required / Desired Skills



MS Clinical Informatics or a BS with 5+ years experience is required; Recent MS level graduates will be considered

Expertise in SNOMED, LOINC or other clinical vocabularies, terminologies and coding systems

Proficiency with database applications and SQL

Excellent communication skills

Experience developing enterprise level medical application software products

Working knowledge of microbiology principles

Familiarity with HL7
