Network Engineer

IT solutions for better care, better business and better outcomes



At CGI, we deliver a full suite of health IT solutions that improve the health industry. Our solutions reduce operating costs, advance the quality of care, and promote public health with an emphasis on electronic medical records (EMR), health information exchange (HIE), quality initiatives and operational efficiency improvements. CGI is currently looking for Public Health professionals in our Atlanta, GA, offices to join an exciting project team that will work to develop and enhance the IT systems.



Network Engineer - Job Description:

Installs and configures system software and associated application tools related to network administration ensuring operating system and layered product versions are current and compatible with application certifications utilizing best practices and discretion ensuring all licensing requirements are satisfied.

Analyzes and documents issues arising from operating system and layered product version upgrades collaborating with vendors and leadership when deemed necessary.

Collaborate with other team members on technologies, concepts and standards

Participate in the assessment and strategy planning of acquisitions as directed

Provide recommendations on proper tools and environment selection that ensure scalability

Identify, interact, and provide high level of service with internal and external customer ensuring needs are being met

Cross train peers and junior staff as required to support new designs

Must be willing to work overtime and flexible hours including weekends and holidays, as needed

Must be willing to work on a rotating on-call basis



Required / Desired Skills



BS or BA in Computer Science, or related field preferred.

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification REQUIRED.

Cisco and Microsoft certifications are preferred. CCDA, CCNP, CCDP, MCP, MCITP

Five to Seven (5-7) years* experience designing, implementing, managing and supporting Local Area Networks and Wide Area Networks that include support of a heterogeneous distributed desktop computing environment required.

Experience in implementing and managing Cisco voice over IP (VoIP) systems both desktop and wireless required.

Proven skill in analyzing, designing, supporting and troubleshooting fiber optic, twisted pair and broadband networks using Cisco modular and fixed configuration switches.

Proven in-depth experience in proper configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco's modular and fixed configuration switches and modules.

Advanced knowledge of and skilled with data communications hubs, switches, routers, bridges and remote-access systems to include the architecture and performance characteristics of modular and fixed configuration switches.

Knowledge of and skilled with TCP/IP, AppleTalk, SNMP and IPX protocols and concepts. In-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite in particular.

Knowledge of and skilled with Windows, MacOS, and UNIX operating systems.
