University of Wisconsin Eau Claire Nursing Faculty tenure track positions and Nursing Department Chair position Nursing Faculty Positions 1.) Probationary tenure track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor or above, depending on experience, education, and scholarship, to begin in January or August, 2009. These are 9 month appointments. The faculty positions include teaching in classroom and clinical settings, using on-site and distance education strategies, and engaging in scholarship, service and advising. Excellent opportunities for research, leadership, clinical practice and professional development are available. Faculty and students learn from each other through learning communities in education, clinical practice and global issues. Engaged teams of students and faculty conduct research through the University student-faculty collaborative research program. Faculty and staff at the University foster student-centered learning, leadership skill development and a strong shared governance model. Expertise is sought in the following areas:
Psych/Mental Health, Leadership/Management, Acute Care, Advanced Clinical Practice with Nurse Practitioner Certification. Summer appointments may be available. Qualifications 1. Master s Degree in Nursing 2. Earned doctorate or substantial progress toward a doctorate; for tenure consideration, doctorate must be completed by the end of the 4th year of full time employment 3. Current RN licensure in the United States and eligibility for RN licensure in Wisconsin 4. Teaching ability in both classroom and on-site clinical settings 5. Demonstrated record of professional experience, teaching, scholarship, publication, and earned doctorate are required for the rank of Associate Professor. Potential for establishing this record and substantial course work in doctoral program are required for the rank of Assistant Professor. Nursing Department Chair Position This position is a full time academic year appointment that includes 50% administrative and 50% teaching responsibilities, with a possible 50% summer administrative appointment. A start date as early as January, 2009, may be negotiated. The Chair assumes leadership for the academic and administrative functions for the graduate and undergraduate programs and reports directly to the Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. The faculty role includes teaching, scholarship, service, and advising. Excellent opportunities for research, leadership, clinical practice and professional development are available. Qualifications and Requirements 1. Doctorate in Nursing or related field and Masters Degree in Nursing 2. Current RN licensure in the United States and eligibility for RN licensure in Wisconsin 3. Record of successful professional leadership, teaching, scholarship/publication 4. Teaching expertise congruent with curricular needs 5. Demonstrated effectiveness in administration 6. Commitment to faculty governance 7. Substantial experience with curriculum development and instructional technology 8. Strong interpersonal skills 9. Meets qualifications for tenure Nursing Programs The College of Nursing and Health Sciences offers CCNE-accredited BSN and MSN programs to over 700 students. The nursing department offers a traditional BSN program in Eau Claire and Marshfield, WI. In addition, the department offers an accelerated second degree program, a statewide collaborative BSN completion program, and an MSN program. At the graduate level students select specialization (adult or family) and role preparation (education, administration, or advanced clinical practice:
nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist). A Doctor of Nursing Practice is in the planning stage. The department is comprised of over 40 full time faculty located at both the Eau Claire and Marshfield sites. Classrooms are connected by live, interactive video. Both distance and on-site programming is provided in the BSN, BSN completion and MSN programs. As an integral part of a liberal arts-based, comprehensive university, the nursing programs support collaborative relationships among faculty and students in the College, within the University, and in professional and practice communities.
