Job Description
12-394 Qualifications:
The Construction Management department is looking for a dedicated and motivated individual to join the Special Projects/Planning Group. The ideal candidate must be well organized and possess strong decision-making skills. Must demonstrate a positive work ethic and be committed to the Company s Corporate Values and Mission Statement. Candidate will require minimal direction be flexible and capable of handling multiple assignments and meet deadlines. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills are required to interact with various levels of management, union and contractor personnel. The successful candidate must be a demonstrated leader and team player. The candidate must have the ability to facilitate group activities and present effective presentations as required. Must demonstrate an understanding of the construction business as it relates to Con Edison. Must have an understanding of the electrical, gas and steam distribution systems.
Bachelor's degree in a business or technical field with two years of relevant experience is preferred. Associate degreee in business or technical field with four years of relevant experience is also preferred. HS/GED diploma with five years of relevant work experience is required. Must have excellent computer skills, and the ability to learn other software applications.
Experience with Layout Tracking, Project Wise, Ariba Systems, CARS, Net Map, and Material Management System (MMS) is preferred. Knowledge of Material Management Database and Cable Consignment Tracking system is also preferred.
Responsibilities:
The Specialist ensures implementation of company safety, health and environment programs for all employees. Ensures that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with company policy and government regulations. Coordinates and provides oversight to ensure departmental guidelines and procedures related to construction material procurement are followed. Acts as the liasion for all issues pertaining to construction material. Reviews all charges and materials to ensure charges are booked accurately. Supports the organization and contractors by providing advice and counsel for ordering construction material. Builds relationships and provides feedback to all internal customers (CFS, Purchasing, Accounting and Engineering) concerning construction delivieries from CFS and vendors. Provides advice and counsel on career development opportunities. Maintains monthly status reports for the Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) as well as staffing schedules. Comply with Company EEO policies and instructions. Performs other assignments and provides support to the Manager as directed.
This position requires a valid driver s license and personal vehicle to travel to various company locations within the service territory as needed. Reimbursement for use of personal vehicle from company mileage procedure is available. Position requires walking, standing and sitting in an office environment. Candidate must be able to respond to emergencies if required.
