POSITION SUMMARY: The Branch Manager position leads the employees who are directly responsible for operating the Profit Center with $40 million or more in Revenue. The manager is responsible for generating new accounts as well as maintaining and building existing accounts. This is a very strategic role with a tremendous opportunity for growth. It requires strong leadership skills and vision, ability to successfully drive change and motivate employees. An ideal candidate will have to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the industry and have a successful record of managing a large operation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operations process development and execution with focus on continuous improvement Customer Service: serve as principle contact and primary negotiator for the branch in matters regarding operations Business development: identify new business opportunities with existing as well as new accounts and successfully obtain and implement those opportunities Carrier Development: develop carrier base with local carriers to support branch highway operations Carrier Relations: build and maintain positive working partnerships with carriers while ensuring that NLA processes and procedures are followed. Develop and maintain positive relationships internally across all departments and functional areas, as well as externally with customers and key suppliers Interviews, assesses, and selects job candidates for positions as required Measure performance of branch employees with emphasis on productivity, efficiency, and service delivery Coaching, mentoring, training, and development of staff with focus on individual, branch, and company goal attainment while at the same time working to increase the bench strength of the company QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Transportation/Logistics or Business Administration or related field, plus at least two years experience in a Brokerage/Profit Center environment or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Training and experience in supervision and leadership, with understanding of performance management essential. The Branch Manager must have the ability to motivate employees in the achievement of department and corporate goals, and be able to work closely with peers to build trust and achieve corporate goals with honesty and integrity. The Branch manager must have knowledge/experience in transportation economics, customer management and service, and possess a process management orientation.
