Talascend is currently seeking a Senior Optical Engineer for a direct hire position in Farmington Hills, Michigan
Lead Designer of optics for exterior vehicle lighting
RELOCATION PACKAGE AVAILABLEPrimary Duties and Responsibilities:
Designs and develops the optics for exterior vehicle lighting products to meet customer and regulatory specifications.Prepares proposals and estimates for the optical design portion of new vehicle lighting programs.Manages optical design portion of lighting programs in accordance with the development schedule. Designs and conducts tests, data acquisition and analysis, and feasibility studies and recommends design changes based on the results.Provides optical design-related guidance, technical advice, and support to project engineers and designers for new product launches.Performs continuous improvement activities to improve design capability, to extend the capability of optical design software, and to develop new optical design technologies.
Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's in Engineering or related disciplineExperience in CATIA V5 and ASAP3 - 5 years of optical engineering or design experienceExperience in project or design engineering.Experience with testing methods and government requirements for automotive lighting designs is a plus.Experience with a Tier 1 supplier in the auto industry is a plus.
