Job Description

At Heatcon, we are known for excellence in the aerospace industry and also for new and innovative solutions within many other industries including industrial heating, construction, automotive and wind energy. We provide innovative heat management solutions for the curing of composite materials through technical knowledge, personal customer relationships, and innovation.

Operations Manager:
Manage and coordinate operations activities including engineering, production, shipping, service/repair, and purchasing in an electro-mechanical, low- volume, and high-mix production environment.

Specific Duties:
-Identify best practices to assure efficient product development and manufacturing cycles, which may include elements of lean manufacturing techniques, improved production scheduling and forecasting methods in a job shop/small batch manufacturing environment.
-Implement the identified best practices to increase production efficiencies, eliminate waste, reduce inventory, reduce lead times, increase quality and maintain excellent on-time delivery.
-Manage and coach operations personnel regarding cost, quality, production schedule administration, and inventory management.
-Provide employee performance reviews and assess personnel development opportunities.
-Assure alignment of all aspects of operations with marketing initiatives.
-As a special focus area of lean manufacturing, lead development of production layout plans for expansion of operations.

Specific Skills:
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Ability and dedication to consensus management, including leading workshops and discussions to achieve specific business objectives.
-Technical aptitude and to work with customers to explain product operation, features and benefits and capability to recommend innovative approaches.
-Strong interpersonal, organizational and computer skills.

Qualifications:
Technical Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) and 8 or more years of recent manufacturing leadership experience, 5 years of which must be proven shop floor operations leadership/supervisory experience in a multi-functional manufacturing environment, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated ability to implement best practices in operations, including lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and production scheduling. Must have demonstrated experience and knowledge with product design, manufacturing processes, production layout, assembly and quality control methods, manufacturing capability, and production scheduling.
