Healthcare Professionals Still In Demand Nationwide

Various studies show that there will continue to be a great demand for healthcare industry professionals in the future. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 10 of the 20 fastest-growing jobs in the nation are healthcare related; this field is expected to create 3.2 million new wage and salary jobs in through 2018.

Medical technology has advanced dramatically in the past few decades, the number of elderly Americans has grown by millions. These factors have lead to the drastic increase in the need for trained professionals like medical assistants, radiologic technologists and registered nurses. And the Obama Administration is currently working to spark healthcare innovation that would reduce costs and create jobs, so this growth is expected to continue.

Recently, the Obama Administration announced in a White House blog post that they have launched the Health Care Innovation Challenge, which will give up to $1 billion to doctors, hospitals and other professionals who find ways to make healthcare more affordable. The projects should propose ways to create more jobs, advance employees' knowledge of patient care and provide higher-quality healthcare at a lower cost.

Groups and individuals who are selected as winners of the challenge will be given between $1 million and $30 million to put their ideas into practice.
