Job Description: -To lead project teams and be part of other project teams. - Contribute towards proposals and front-end studies for potential capital projects. - Cost engineering work for Capital Investment Proposals. - Prepare and review project construction timing plans. - Assist in the preparation of Bid documents and appoint contractors for installation work. -Specify a requisition plan and equipment to be used in projects. - Carry out factory inspections prior to delivery of plant and equipment to be used in projects. - Liaise with operations for the hand over of plant for commissioning and start-up. Complete the hand-over procedure, agreeing snagging lists. - Liase with Quality department to ensure compliance with sanitization requirements and the Technical Change Procedure. - Manage day-to-day plant installation work, liaising with contractors and the factory operations team as necessary. - Ensure that health, safety, and environmental considerations are addressed both in the design of the plant and during its installation. -Take part in post-project reviews. - Keep up to date with, and help to develop, work procedures relevant to the site engineering department. - Keep up-to-date with regulations and standards, both internal and regulatory that are relevant to the work of the site engineering department. - Be authorized to issue certain Permit-to-Work, ensure these are used in project work and assist when required by issuing them for maintenance work. -To comply with site health, safety and environmental policy and with the site standards for PPE and actively support GMP requirements. -To assist with training and assessment of other in the team when required. - To take part in continuous improvement programs and projects when required. - To ensure that GMP, Quality, Health and Safety are considered in all aspects of role. - The position will be largely responsible for the design and costing of engineering projects prior to approval of the Capital Investment at the appropriate level. Following approval, the Project Engineer has authority to use the budget allocation to execute the project as agreed with the Site Engineering Manager, Site Technical Director, Site Finance Director, and Site Director approving expenditure. - The Project Engineer will ensure PIP documentation is prepared to high standard with support from Sponsor, and key customers and other relevant interested parties. - The Project Engineer will approve and appoint contractors where required using site and company procedures for selection. -The Project Engineer will take such decisions as necessary for the day to day continuation of work on projects particularly as regards the management of contractors to ensure the cost and timing targets are met and provide regular reports on progress.
Essential Skills: Technical educational background that would qualify him/her for professional engineering status, i.e. BS degree in appropriate discipline or equivalent Engineering experience in relevant discipline. - Good communicational and influencing skills, be able to motivate those working for him/her and must be able to make and implement decisions. - Working knowledge of the engineering standards and statutory requirements for plant, machinery, and workplaces applicable to a large volume consumer products factory. -Good customer focus and understanding of the importance of delivering to time, quality and cost.
