Online Business Degrees

As a result of an increasingly complex job market, many employers are seeking applicants who possess both information technology (IT) degrees and business skills. Individuals who wish to gain certification in these fields may benefit from earning a degree that combines both disciplines.

For example, Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) recently announced in a press release that it will offer a bachelor's degree of business studies in computer IT. The program allows students to choose electives in a particular focus, in order to prepare them for jobs as systems analysts and programmers, telecommunications specialists, database designers or IT managers.

The curriculum for this track can be completed via campus-based or online courses. Professionals who wish to enter the IT field or those who wish to improve their skills may benefit from this program.

The 2010 Sloan Survey of Online Learning reveals that three-quarters of institutions report that the economic downturn has increased demand for online courses. Furthermore, web-based enrollments increased by almost 1 million students between 2009 and 2010.
