Minimum SkillsRequirements Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy. New Mexico Physical Therapy license. Less than one year experience in physical therapy. One year in Physical Therapy preferred. Primary Job Functions Plans and implements specific treatment programs for individual patients in an inpatient, outpatient, homecarehospice, and nursing home setting according to the principles and practices of physical therapy at SGH. Evaluates patients, develops plan and goals and implements physical therapy treatment programs in accordance with accepted standards of P. T. Practice to SGH patients in all therapeutic settings in accordance with their needs and physician orders for improvement of physical or developmental dysfunction and to increase independence in activities of daily living. Continually reassesses treatment plan and goals. Attends department meetings and inservices. Keeps current with developments in the Physical Therapy field by participation in seminars, workshops, and publications reviews. Adapts conventional physical therapy techniques to meet the needs of patients unable to comprehend verbal commands or easily carry out a regime of therapeutic exercises. Provides written and verbal instructions to patientfamily, physical therapy techs, and home health aides in therapeutic procedures and exercises to be continued by the patient. Instructs in equipment use. Evaluates, records, and reports on patients progress for review by the physician and other members of the rehabilitation team. Provides documentation on all patients which can include: initial evaluation summary, treatment plans with stated goals, progress notes, reevaluations and discharge summaries. Adheres to all established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Assists in developing and providing inservice educational programs for department staff and other hospital employees as well as members of the community. Performs other functions as required.
