Job Description

Minimum SkillsRequirements Associates DegreeDiploma or BSN in Nursing. State of New Mexico License required. The RN staff member must demonstrate the skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. Primary Job Functions Utilizes the nursing process to provide, in at least two areas, direct Primary patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift. Collaborates with others on Health care team to coordinate care and educate patients and families. Delegates care to and supervises nursing assistive personnel as appropriate. Provides direct Primary patient care in at least two clinical areas by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting individual patients condition needs, interventions actions taken, patient family education and patient responses. Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by the patients provider, approved standards, guidelines and or protocols. Delegates or assigns aspects of patient care to healthcare team members according to their validated competency to perform the task. Assists providers with various procedures, treatments, and or surgical procedures, or delegates assigns to other healthcare team members as appropriate. Supervises other RNs and non-licensed assistive personnel; assists in orientation, mentoring or preceptoring of new and existing staff or students, and serves as a resource person and professional role model. Maintains professional responsibility for knowledge of current nursing research, practice standards, guidelines and protocols, and hospital policies, procedures, and programs to improve patient care quality. Assumes other roles as required by the department to include Charge Nurse as appropriate. Participates in and supports PI activities and community wellness programs. Maintains patient confidentiality, privacy, safe environment Standard Precautions. Performs the following duties in coordinating the care of the patient if assigned: concurrent utilization review gathering, tracking, analyzing and reporting intraqual variances coordinating Swing Bed program collaborate with the patient, family, and healthcare team knowledgeable of governmental and third party payer regulations. facilitate the completion of advance directives.
