Job Description

Responsibilities:
andbull; Responsible for assisting managing counsel in ensuring global compliance of all businesses with U.S. information reporting and backup withholding, as well as providing tax training and support to Operations.
andbull; Areas of concentration include U.S. Recipient Reporting and Withholding; Cost Basis Reporting; NRA Reporting and Withholding and, significantly, Merchant Card and Third Party Network Reporting and Withholding (under section 6050W); and FATCA compliance.
andbull; Advise business units of their obligations (in oral communications and in writing) - including responding to day-to-day queries from the business - and assist in a panoply of compliance projects; serve as subject matter expert with grasp of broader aspects of the business.
andbull; Develop relationship with Vendors Payable, Operations , Compliance, General Counsel's Office and Government Affairs Office as well as the business units; assist in oversight of cross functional teams.
andbull; Execute research and analysis in applicable areas of federal income tax law and new or proposed tax legislation.
andbull; Execute research and analysis in applicable areas of state tax law (relating to tax reporting and withholding matters).
andbull; Develop and maintain materials and processes to facilitate timely, accurate and documented compliance and audit support.
andbull; Assist global business compliance with tax forms and resolve escalated tax form issues.
andbull; As member of tax counsel team, assist in representing the company in industry sessions and specialty forums, lobbying-related efforts and managing outside advisors.
Requirements:
andbull; B.A. required; JD, LL.M, CPA or MST is not required but highly desirable.
andbull; 4+ years corporate income tax experience including in reporting and withholding tax matters; experience with global compliance highly desirable.
andbull; Significant experience in application of US withholding tax and documentation requirements preferred.
andbull; Ability to work independently, communicate confidently and problem-solve effectively in a team environment and under tight deadlines.
andbull; Ability to research law and review facts in order to formulate strategies.
andbull; Must have very strong analytical/problem solving skills with ability to translate ideas into value added solutions.
andbull; Must have excellent communication skills and organizational skills.
