Job Description

Role synopsis:

The successful candidate will be required to perform responsible management, technical and administrative duties in commanding and supervising fire suppression activities; to develop and direct department training activities; to provide administrative support to the NS Fire Chief; and to provide highly technical staff assistance. While the candidate has no direct reports they are responsible for the health and safety of all fire department members while training or during emergency responses. Oversees the daily activities at the assigned station to include work activities. Directs the operations of interns and summer hires.

Key accountabilities:

Maintains assigned apparatus and equipment.Manages Station budget.Tracks team member training to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Plans, organizes, and directs activities relating to emergency operations and training.Select, train, motivate and evaluate personnel; deliver or coordinate fire fighter training in fire suppression, fire prevention, rescue, hazardous materials, and other development programs, within assigned station; oversee and coordinate the attendance of department personnel at outside training and schools. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.Assume the responsibilities of the NS, Fire Chief in their absence.

Essential Education:

High School graduate

Essential experience and job requirements:

Minimum of 7 years fire operations with at least 2 years in a leadership position (Officer)Possess a working knowledge of Federal, State, National and industry fire and safety codes and regulations (OHSA, ADOSH, NFPA, UBC, IFC, API, PSM, etc.).
