Job Description
This individual assumes full management responsibility for operational functions of the Specialty Courier Operations department which includes Freight Forwarding Manager, Clinical Trials manager, and International Logistics manager to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities, and personnel. Directs the logistics specialists in determining routings, ensuring accurate and timely updates to PSI systems, and building carrier and subcontractor relationships for consolidations and transfers. Manages and ensures optimum routing and supporting carrier negotiations for TL, LTL, air and expedited carriers, managing off-site field services personnel. Directs the Specialty Courier team in development of processes and procedures, daily operations and development and management of service metrics as well as timely updates to PSI systems. Represents PSI in client performance reviews and ensures professional representation of PSI at all locations. Assumes full management responsibilities for operational functions of all PSI facilities. This includes working closely with the Quality Manager to assure quality programs for Life Science clients. This individual is ultimately responsible for delivering unprecedented service levels to PSI's clients through strategic Development of areas of accountability. This individual will also be responsible for the financial performance, providing pricing for new business and performance against pricing, P & L performance, revenue targets and cost controls as well as managing to yearly corporate performance objectives. This individual will continuously review processes, performance measures, technology and staffing to identify efficiency opportunities and operational optimization.Distribution Center Efficiencies
- Plan, Organize, manage and control PSI's physical distribution function serving the Specialty Courier industry
- Establish clear priorities for each facility in support of organizational and strategic objectives and reprioritizing as necessary to meet objectives
- Establish clear priorities for Quality Programs in support of organizational and strategic objectives and reprioritizing as necessary to meet objectives
- Identify needs for technology, work with IT to design technological solutions and integration requirements and lead the implementation of new technology and processes in the Distribution Centers.
- Facilitate PSI's performance measurement and reporting systems
- Insure staffing levels meet optimal production levels and cost savings
- Insure fulfillment schedules and client target dates and schedule deadlines are met- Ensure with any startup endeavor that the services proposed are the best blend of efficiency, cost-effectiveness and outstanding service levels
- Review measures according to established schedules
- Monitor Priority's recall management processes
- Report Critical Measures to Executive Team monthly
- Conduct Monthly reviews with Executive Management to ensure profitability targets are met.
Strategic Planning
- Provide yearly analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of and to the distribution centers and warehouse operations, as well as Quality Programs, consistent with the strategic planning process and target dates.
- Create best-in-class sample services that differentiate PSI form all competitors in the industry
- Expand PSI 's services
- Establish with Executive Management the strategic direction for the Distribution and Warehouse Operations.- Work with warehouse operations teams to provide strategic plan drafts to the Executive Team in support of the Organizational Strategic Planning.
- Provide Quarterly Strategic Plan Implementation Reviews and offer recommendations for change as the year progresses.
- Create the best-in-class trade product (3PL) services that differentiate PSI from all competitors in the industry
Distribution Center and Account Profitability Management
- Partner with finance to develop forecasted profitability analysis for any new business endeavor and manage to the profitability targets established
- Identify profitability issues and propose resolutions to ManagementProject Management
- Audit change management endeavors to ensure proper risk assessments are completed, project plans are developed, project prioritization, status and progress reports are being communicated effectively to staff and Executive Management
- Review project proposals to determine goals, time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of resources
- Ensures that all project plans are complete in that they have specific goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans, and allocation of available resourcesQuality Program Standards
- Plan, organize and control PSI's continuous improvement program
- Ensure standards for documenting Quality Business Processes and that the automation tools to support this process and the organization's adherence to these standards
- Assess and/or advise management on Priority's development and compliance with critical standard operating procedures, training and documentation systems in accordance with cGMP, GDP, PDMA and client and/or industry standards
- Assure the PSI's distribution center functions demonstrate that guidelines are met or exceeded for security, environmental controls, cleanliness and other standards that may apply at the federal, state, or local levels
- Ensure approvals and postings to production environment based on adherence to standards and ensures necessary approvals are received prior to posting to production
- Review studies in the quality industry, identify new innovations and recommend improvements to PSI's Quality Program
- Identify new methods to ensure compliance to programs and integrate with PSI's applications to further compliance to established standards
- Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards
- Keeps executive team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and actions being taken to improve the situation
- Ensure a Quality Process Review program that brings awareness to Executive Committee
Participate in client quality audits and manage corrective actions given to completion with process owner
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:- Minimum - Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 5 years Distribution Center Management Experience
- Minimum of 5 years International, specialty courier experience
- Minimum of 5 years customer service experience
- Pharmaceutical industry experience
