Criminal Justice Degrees Offer Many Career Opportunities

Adults who graduate with a degree in criminal justice can have many career options. These professionals typically find work as police, detectives, probation officers or corrections officers. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that individuals who attain higher educational levels can have better job opportunities in this field.

Schools such as Mountain State University in Orlando offer Bachelor's degrees in Criminal Justice.. The university recently announced that will also introduce a Bachelor's degree in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in criminal justice administration,The Orlando Business Journal reports. The program will be offered both online and on the school's campus.

The bachelor of science program in organizational leadership was designed to improve students' problem-solving, critical thinking and communication skills. The new concentration also provides learners with an understanding of the dynamics of criminal justice organizations, and coursework includes organizational behavior, issues of management, ethics, principle-centered leadership and a problem-solving practicum.

According to the school's website, graduates can be prepared for a career in federal, state or local government, or within a variety of religious, educational, healthcare and commercial organizations. The BLS reports that criminal justice professionals earned between $49,421 and $113,930 during the 2008 fiscal year.
