Job Description

The Associated Press is seeking a Manager of Strategic Sourcing,
General for our New York headquarters.


Responsible for the procurement of a wide and diverse range of
enterprise products and services including office supplies and related
consumables (i.e. paper, toner, etc.), office maintenance and repair services,
consulting services, non-technology related outsourcing services (e.g.
HR-related outsourcing services including benefits and/or compliance
consulting, etc.), motor vehicles and related fleet services (i.e. cars, vans,
fleet maintenance services, etc.), and travel-related services (i.e. commercial
carriers, lodging, ground transportation companies, etc.).

Reporting to the Director of Global Procurement and working closely
with other senior managers throughout the organization (internal customers),
the Senior Buyer has primary responsibility for gathering procurement
requirements, leading the sourcing efforts for each assigned procurement
engagement, coordinating the vendor proposal review and selection process, as
well as coordinating and leading the negotiations with the chosen vendor.

Monitor company-wide procurement of assigned goods and/or services to maximize
leverage internally and externally to ensure 'the best value, at the lowest
price' is consistently achieved.

Contribute to the ongoing development of global procurement plans and
strategies that enhance the Company's performance.

Identify, develop and manage effective professional relationships with
suppliers and internal business partners and proactively leverage those
relationships to stay abreast of internal needs and the landscape of best
applicable solutions available in the marketplace.

Proactively explore new opportunities for cost savings. Meet with suppliers on a regular basis to
review performance of existing engagements/contracts and meet with their
competitors for insights about their solutions, how they position themselves
against the incumbent, and how best to leverage any alternatives for AP's
advantage.

Initiates and develops contractual terms and conditions in accordance
with established Company policies, laws, and ethical principles.

Develop and maintain supplier performance monitoring programs (supplier
management) which include conducting price audits on current supplier contracts
to ensure price compliance with stated agreements and measuring service level
