Veterans Wanted for Customer Service and Sales Positions A new CareerBuilder survey shows that military veterans may soon see many new job opportunities, as about 20% of employers said they plan to actively recruit veterans over the next 12 months, according to a press release. In particular, veterans can find jobs in the business sector, as 28% of employers plan to hire in customer service, while 22% need new employees for sales positions.

In order to land one of these positions, about 41% of employers said veterans should focus on finding ways to make their military experience translate into work experience. These job applicants should explicitly outline the skills they learned in the military and state how they can be relevant to the position they are applying for.

Additionally, employers said there are many characteristics they look for when interviewing veterans. According to the survey, about 66% of hiring managers want applicants to be disciplined in their work, while 65% seek candidates who can efficiently work as a member of a team. Other qualities deemed important for veterans who are looking for jobs include communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, problem solving skills and leadership capabilities.
