For many HR managers and individuals involved with affirmative action (AA) or equal employment opportunity (EEO) programs within their business or organization, the National Industry Liaison Group (NILG) is a common name and an important resource for OFCCP compliance.

With regional chapters around the country, ILG participation provides members with a forum to communicate with professionals in the technical, legal and regulatory sector as well as colleagues in the contractor community on all aspects of OFCCP compliance obligations.

Why Participate in ILG events?

Being an ILG member and participating in regional and national events offers employers access to vital resources to exchange information about equal employment opportunity in the workplace. The ILG also provides its members with valuable resources and alerts on legislative changes to OFCCP, AA and EEO rules and regulations, including updates to recent directives, as well as countless webinars on important employment practices such as making reasonable accommodations for veterans or persons with disabilities, to issues uncovered in an OFCCP review.


History behind the formation of the ILG

Created by the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) to provide open communication between the industry and the OFCCP, the NILG supports small, mid-size and large Federal contractors and employers across the country in all matters related to affirmative action and equal employment opportunity in the United States. They work closely with the OFCCP, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and related local and regional groups to promote EO/AA matters.

Founded in the 1980s, after being well-received by the Federal contractor community, the National ILG went on to form regional groups across the country, providing platforms to develop partnerships and further disseminate information specific to affirmative action and equal opportunity practices. Each ILG organization is distinct and is governed by their individual members. They hold weekly, monthly or annual meetings based on their member needs and gather as a whole at the annual National Conference.

The first Annual ILG Conference was held in 1983 in New Orleans. Each year, leading affirmative action officers, equal opportunity directors, and diversity leaders meet to discuss the latest updates to OFCCP and EEOC as it relates to regulations, compliance, and best practices with a mission to create equal employment opportunity in the workplace.
