This past month found the team at America’s Job Exchange busier than ever. In addition, we are pleased to announce the launch and availability of our Ecommerce Recruitment Compliance solution, making it faster and easier for customers like you to purchase OFCCP Recruitment Compliance products tailored to meet your needs. Stayed tuned for additional information regarding new AJE online products designed to help you find the talent you need. If you are in the Recruitment industry, it is important to keep up–to–date with changes in our fast–paced marketplace – please leverage AJE resources to keep you informed, and know that we are always here to help.
Let’s start our review of March with the ever–important February jobs report issued by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. No one can dispute the fact that the employment market is improving on a national level, with businesses adding 236,000 jobs in February, driving the unemployment rate down to 7.7 percent; a full percentage point lower than 2012. However, when you dissect the unemployment numbers at a more granular level, the news is not all good. As noted above, our recruiting analysts focused on diversity groups this past month, all of whom are showing greater unemployment levels when compared to the broader, national unemployment rate. For instance, in Part 5 of our Unemployment Series, you can see the disparities in unemployment rates when you take a closer look at the numbers for each sector. For a closer look at all the blogs in this series, visit here.
Continuing with the topic of diversity, the OFCCP has issued several new directives over the course of the past few months. In our blog, OFCCP Issues Directive 306 –Reinforces Best Practices on Use of Criminal Records When Making Employment Decisions, we take a closer look at how Federal Contractors will need to be even more mindful of hiring policies that "exclude people from employment based on the mere existence of a criminal history record and that do not take into account the age and nature of an offense." For more information on Directive 306, you can also visit the OFCCP here.
This past month also provided an opportunity for AJE to sponsor another important ILG regional event. In our blog, Attendees and Exhibitors Enjoy Exciting and Informative Discussions at the NC/SC ILG Regional Summit, we recapped our participation as a Silver Sponsor of the 2013 NC/SC ILG Regional summit, held March 12 at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. AJE was pleased to join over 100 attendees to discuss current and important issues impacting the industry today – both regionally and nationally. If you have yet to attend an ILG event and are a federal contractor employer, HR, AA or EEO manager, or anyone involved in recruitment compliance and employment issues, ILG meetings are valuable, must attend events, and we hope to see you at one in your area very soon.
Lastly, I’d like to personally thank the AJE team, including our customers and partners. It’s because of your hard work and commitment that we continue to be recognized by the industry as a leading Recruitment Compliance, Recruitment Advertising, and Recruitment Branding diversity job board. This month we were pleased to be recognized again by IAEWS, who featured us as a Super Member site. To read more, visit here.View Newsletter »
