In This Issue

Diversity is the cornerstone of any effective recruiting strategy, and at America's Job Exchange we are committed to providing resources and solutions to ensure you meet AA/EEO regulations. Continuing our focus on diversity hiring, this month we continue to focus on its core, Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employment regulations (AA/EEO). In our article, Is AAP Part of Your Hiring Strategy?, we take a closer look at the origins of AA/EEO, as outlined by President John F. Kennedy in the early 60's, as well as discuss the benefits of promoting diversity in the workplace.

When it comes to promoting diversity, as well as abiding by OFCCP compliance regulations, Federal Contractors in particular, need to be fully aware of the laws and regulations that pertain to them, specifically when it applies to hiring veterans. In our article Federal Contractors and Veterans, we take you through the specific regulations that impact veteran hiring, such as the Vietnam Era Veteran's Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), as well as the benefits that veterans bring to the workforce. These are a highly unique, skilled group.

And while we continue with recruiting information, let's discuss a refresher on writing the most effective job ad. This month's Writing an Effective Job Description - a Refresher, takes you through the essential elements of creating a job ad, including the basics of the job and how to best to sell your company to prospective recruits.

Lastly, if like many in your industry you find yourself attending countless events do not forget to capitalize on these opportunities and network. In Networking at Conferences we discuss how best to use your attendance by doing some legwork and research in advance and the appropriate follow-up post-event. These strategies will help to build new relationships that may prove useful.
