With every New Year, like many of you, I’m still thinking about the resolutions I’ve made, and am trying to keep – eat healthier, get fit, spend more time with family and friends; these are just a few. Like individuals, employers should use the beginning of the calendar year to make some key resolutions for their business. This month I wanted to use this premise to focus on resolutions that will help you improve workplace dynamics and strengthen your diversity recruitment programs in 2013.

Appreciate your employees in the New Year explores ideas you can use to motivate teams and jumpstart success. What better time is there to engage employees and communicate business strategies for 2013 than as the year kicks off? Sharing your views on how they are an integral part of the organization’s success is a good start.

If part of your 2013 strategy is a more concerted focus on hiring, maintaining recruitment analytics is a must. This is one of the most effective approaches to help you better assess what works, what practices need improvement and the overall cost to your recruitment budget. Read Recruiting Analytics - Metrics You Should Track to learn more; this article will help you build upon your recruitment programs in the coming year.

Speaking of recruitment, this is also a good time to assess your workplace accommodations as it relates to diversity groups. If you are looking to make improvements in this area, Creating an Accessible Workplace provides some good guidelines. Here we explore areas for consideration during all phases of recruitment, from development and distribution of job postings, all the way through to on–boarding and beyond.

And for those employers who need to abide by OFCCP compliance regulations as it relates to diversity hiring, be sure to read OFCCP Recordkeeping Requirements; a quick reference guide on the record–keeping requirements regarding Internet applicants.

While the last several years have been challenging, we do enter 2013 on a somewhat positive note, with unemployment steadily ticking down. If you are one of the many employers looking to bring on staff this year, be sure to access our Recruiting Solutions. We can help you build up your business with diverse candidates. Visit us today.
