RESPONSIBILITIES The Network Engineering Technician reports to the Director of Engineering and is responsible for system administration of office computer environment as well as the administration and analysis of customer systems. The Network Engineering Technician will participate in design, implementation, testing, and troubleshooting of systems as part of both the systems design team and the engineering install deployment team. Specific duties include the following: Computer Operation, Installation, Maintenance and Repair Local maintenance, repair, and configuration of all office IT components Test, install, and repair of computer images and provided software Software update installation, planning and management Analysis and response to System Security Operations Center Scans Identification and removal of verification failures or malicious software Analysis and identification of mean time to failure anomalies, system malfunctions, system trends Review of OS log files, anti-virus logs, software logs to determine root case of system malfunctions and failures Write up of technical documentation for installation instructions Installation, set up and troubleshooting of all Windows 7 operating system configurations such as system hardware driver software, network card configuration, computer name and network ID Installation, setup and troubleshooting to resolution computer hardware issues Configuration of computers to associate with a network such as IP address, gateways, subnets, DNS settings, join Active Directory Configuration management of all computer systems and hardware configurations as well as the accompanying installation documentation Preparation of head-end components for installation prior to deployment and while on site Answer internal and external help desk calls New Technology Implementation Testing and Documentation Identification and testing of new technology Technology research Preparation of systems for security vulnerability scanning Resolution and response to security vulnerability incidents Coordination with manufacturer and vendors to arrange demo equipment and answer technology questions, vulnerability reposes, analysis Completion of system addition and operating approvals to include technology insertions, authority to operate, systems accreditations Configuration Management Tracking and maintaining lists of all installed software version(s) Technician HR OTHR EE Version 1.4 July 2016 document as a reference, confirm that you are using the most current edition. 2 of 3 Tracking and maintaining detailed lists of all managed network devices; System names, IP configurations, locations, etc., Coordination with Maintenance for tracking of hardware and software upgrades Manage user profiles in Active Directory Manage computer objects in Active Directory Installation, Maintenance and Repair of Security System and Network Infrastructures Participates in activities concerned with layout and design of electrical circuitry, surveillance systems, access control systems, and intrusion detection systems to ensure conformance with statements of work, proposals, codes and safety regulations. Conducts site surveys and implements system design according to company specifications and customer requirements. Enforces company quality assurance and quality control policies and performs necessary inspections in accordance with industry standards, CMMI and QMS company processes and policies. Assists Engineering department with the research, development, testing and evaluation of system designs. Provides installation support to installation crews and engineering department. Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and applies logical solutions to installation problems. Uses complex diagnostic tools to calibrate or adjust electronic equipment to specifications. Tests, repairs and installs system equipment for installation or development using test equipment, hand tools and power tools. Installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, and control systems and equipment. Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement. Replaces defective components and wiring and adjusts equipment to correct defects Provides systems engineering support, technical expertise and interacts with customers. Contributes to bid and proposal efforts. Provides deliverables, such as Bills of Materials, Quotes, and Proposals. Prepares documentation used for all engineering efforts as assigned. Communicates company/customer needs to vendors/subcontractors as necessary. Recommends solutions to installation and customer delivery problems. Communicates project status, deliverables, priorities, and contingencies. Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams or blueprints. Specifies systems layout and components according to design implementation. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS High School diploma, or equivalent, required. Two year technical degree in Engineering, Information Science or related field preferred. 5 years of related technical experience in the IT field Must have current Security Plus Certification Additional technology systems/components certifications desired. (Network+, PSP, ITIL, and/or CISSP) Must have experience with Active Directory, computer hardware, computer imaging, and remotely administrating computer systems Must be knowledgeable in using VISIO Technician HR OTHR EE Version 1.4 July 2016 document as a reference, confirm that you are using the most current edition. 3 of 3 Must be proficient in MS office; Excel, Word, Adobe Experience with IP cameras design and installation preferred. ABILITIES REQUIRED: Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances Must be able to travel, approximately 50% of the time Must be able to use Microsoft Office and Windows Platform Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills; able to convey complex technical information in an easily understood manner and interact at all levels of the organization and with customers. Demonstrated skills in leadership, team building, guiding, and motivating teams. Advanced understanding of computer concepts, applications, and configuration; electronic and computer equipment hardware and software, and operation of telecommunications broadcasting, switching, and control. Advanced knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models; proficient at reading and annotating computer-aided design (CAD) drawings, project schedules, and bills-of-material. Strong detail-oriented skills; able to multi-task and change priorities quickly Must be able to obtain and maintain related security clearances Able to secure a valid passport Ability to work designated schedule as well as maintain attendance and punctuality SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to work at moderately high heights, up to 40 feet above the ground using bucket trucks, scissor lifts, and ladders. Able to lift a minimum of 60 lbs. Able to work in outdoor environment exposed to varying high or low temperatures. Must have sufficient physical agility to walk, climb, stand, crawl, and stretch on a continual basis. Must be able to perform work utilizing small hand tools and power tools as required.
