TITLE

2017 Spring Engineering Internship / Co-op



REPORTS TO

Ripon Plant Engineer



OBJECTIVES

Provide engineering experience to an individual studying within a Mechanical or Chemical Engineering field at the Ripon, Wisconsin Plant. Assist with project management and present to leadership on Smucker Co-op or internship experience.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform engineering responsibilities commensurate with your education and training in the Plant Engineering Department of the Ripon Plant. Key responsibilities include:



Manage Capital Projects from inception to completion

* Analyze current manufacturing processes and make improvement recommendations

* Conduct needs assessment with operation teams

* Meet and qualify equipment suppliers

* Research and recommend equipment

* Negotiate equipment purchases and write capital requests

* Supervise installation and start-up as applicable

* Track project schedule and costs

* Write weekly project status reports

* Measure project(s) success via documentation & presentation of the product and cost savings

Perform routine assignments as directed, such as:

* Write operating instructions

* Conduct line efficiency studies

* Update AutoCAD drawings, generate plots, provide prints for distribution



QUALIFICATIONS

* Junior level ME or ChemE preferred, will consider qualified EE or CE

* Minimum GPA: 3.0 overall

* Management and leadership skills

* Good analytical skills with attention to detail

* Self-directed and goal oriented

* Strong oral and written communication skills

* Ability and desire to work in a team environment

* Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and AutoCAD software

* Must be able to lift and/or move up to 65 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, and go up and downstairs on a regular basis
