Job Description
Will Statement Will: Will be a Student Intern in the JPL Summer Program working full time in a specified software or computer engineering group. Student will perform routine job functions and activities within a specified technical group. Will be provided with hands-on work experience in the application of conceptual and theoretic curriculum within Software and Computing Systems. •May assist engineers with the design, code, and development of software, engineering, or scientific applications used to solve a problem or provide a capability needed by a JPL flight or mission data system, or a supporting infrastructure element.•May assist engineers with the design, code, and development of software applications and interface solutions that will be delivered into the Enterprise computer systems environment.•Applies basic knowledge of software engineering and knowledge of one of the following engineering (or related) fields: aerospace, communications embedded real-time control systems, electrical, mechanical, or optical.•Responsible for understanding software specifications.•May assist Engineers with the deployment and maintenance of software systems.•May assist Engineers with software verification and validation and/or assists analysts to facilitate, negotiate, and capture requirements.•Troubleshoots applications and/or performs routine software builds.•Works on day-to-day assignments under direct supervision; receives detailed instructions on new assignments.•Uses applicable policies, procedures and practices as guides to determine work methods and deliver results.•Work is reviewed for accuracy and overall adequacy.•Interacts primarily with immediate supervisor and team members within own organization.This is a temporary non-benefit based summer position. Final career level placement is based on your current level at school. Skills Required Skills:•Must be currently enrolled at least half-time at an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelors degree or Graduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or other related software and computing discipline.•Minimum GPA 3.0.•Must be available to work full time during the summer for 8-12 week assignment.•Has some familiarity in one or more of the following areas: Programming, software, application development.•Completed coursework with exposure to standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques in software computing.•Knowledge and experience with MS Office.•Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.•U.S.Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.Desired Skills:•Prior internship experience in related software and computing systems discipline.•Participation in student organizations.•Completion of at least one year of college.
