Job Description

Will Statement Will: Will be a Student Intern in the JPL Summer Program performing routine job functions and activities within a specified Business Operations group. Will be provided with hands-on work experience in the application of conceptual and theoretic curriculum within Financial and Business Operations. May assist Financial and Business Operations staff members in one of more of the following job duties: Perform analysis to determine financial performance. Gather, analyze, prepare and summarize financial data for management; prepare reports of findings and recommendations. Ensure compliance with internal procedures and government regulations.•Perform standard transactions that update the financial business process/systems based on departmental instructions.•Assist analysts with a variety of basic financial management reporting on a periodic basis and of a statistical nature.•May be required to follow up with customer service inquiries from internal customers for assigned responsibilities.•May assist with analysis in support of budget development, review processes, and project cost guidelines.•Assist with internal audits.•Work on day-to-day assignments under direct supervision; receives detailed instructions on new assignments.•Uses applicable policies, procedures and practices as guides to determine work methods and deliver results.•Work is reviewed for accuracy and overall adequacy.•Interacts primarily with immediate supervisor and team members within own organization.This is a temporary non-benefit based summer position. Final career level placement is based on your current level at school. Skills Required Skills:•Must be currently enrolled at least half-time at an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelors degree or Graduate degree in Finance, Accounting, SubContract Administration, Business Operations or related financial discipline. •Minimum GPA 3.0.•Must be available to work full time during the summer for 8-12 week assignment.•Has some familiarity in one or more of the following areas:, Finance, Project Accounting, Schedule Analysis, Resource Analysis, Audits, Subcontracts, Cost Estimation, Schedule Planning, Earned Value.•Completed coursework with exposure to standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques in Business Operations and Finance.•Knowledge and experience with MS Office.•Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.•U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.Desired Skills:•Prior internship experience in related financial areas.•Participation in student organizations.•Completion of at least one year of college.
