Responsibilities

Milieu Manager/Activities Coordinator - Dual Diagnosis Adolescent Residential Treatment Program. McLean Hospital

We are currently seeking a dynamic, creative, self-starter for the position of Activities Coordinator/Milieu Manager for our Dual Diagnosis Adolescent Residential Treatment Programs at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA. This position requires experience working with addictions and mental health issues in a treatment setting. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is comfortable taking charge of adolescents, running therapeutic groups and activities and collaborating with a diverse and and accomplished team of mental health professionals. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week (8:30am-4:30pm). The primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Promote education and treatment program by participating in orienting newly admitted youth, disseminating educational information on recognition and treatment of alcohol and substance abuse symptoms and problems; encouraging participation in programs.

2. Supervise and monitor the therapeutic environment to ensure that behavioral guidelines are followed, a therapeutic milieu is maintained and interpersonal relationships remain positive.

3. Identify, plan and implement appropriate activities in various formats (i.e., psycho-educational, dual-diagnosis, and process groups) under the direction of the Clinical Director in a professional, ethical and caring manner

4. Obtain or may assist in the administration of required assessments for all newly admitted youth including research instruments, as appropriate.

5. Demonstrate initiative in task identification and completion; use time efficiently while working with the Clinical Director, Educational Coordinator, and Residential Directors to effectively handle volume of work.

6. Provide individual mentoring addressing mental health and/or substance abuse needs, regularly assess youth needs, strengths and performance in attaining goals and objectives.

7. Address program issues with the Clinical Director, which pertain to strategic objectives, annual plan and overall delivery of services. Participate in and support agency quality improvement programs with goal to continuously improve care and services.

8. Complete all documentation (i.e., progress notes, group notes, progress reports to next shift, urinalysis reports) in a timely and organized manner.

9. Actively participate in all meetings (i.e., staff meetings, case conference, team meetings and individual supervision) by being prepared utilizing problem-solving skills and providing appropriate feedback to team members.

10. Maintain communication and teamwork with program staff and case managers to integrate and enhance clinical services.

11. Submit weekly schedules, ensure prior approval for off site activities, demonstrates effective utilization of time.
