You will serve as the Senior Business & Project Analyst within the VCHS Strategic Initiatives/Project Management Office. This position provides support to various initiatives that lead to operational efficiency in support of Health Sciences' ability to accomplish transformational initiatives in education, research, and healthcare.
The incumbent will serve as project manager and be responsible for identifying and evaluating opportunities, planning and implementing solutions, change management and tracking and measuring success with regards to the most critical short term and long term organizational, business, and financial issues facing Health Sciences as a whole. Support implementation of initiatives that optimize operations, bring consistency across departments and yield potential time and effort savings.
The position will provide hands-on support to departments experiencing staffing shortages in core business office positions. This includes serving as a resource to departments in implementation of various initiatives. The analysis, recommendations and implementation that will be performed is highly complex and requires a wide range of knowledge regarding business and organizational management as well as an extensive knowledge of UC San Diego and Health Sciences administrative organizations, departments, policies, procedures, processes and practices.
Graduation from 4 year college with a major in business administration, finance, economics, statistics, educational administration, political science, or an allied field; four years hands-on experience as a Business Systems Analyst; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Direct experience in department operations including financial management, budgeting, academic administration, HR, contracts & grants administration.
Proven ability to quickly understand business issues and data challenges, and translate those issues and challenges into process improvement measures and technical solutions.
Project management experience, including managing resources, scope, schedule and budget to ensure technical components of projects are delivered on time, to specification and of high quality.
Ability to assess a broad spectrum of organizational needs and job-related demands, establish priorities, delegate, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience interviewing subject matter experts as part of the process mapping and business requirements definition phases of process improvement projects.
Ability to make oral presentations which are well organized, clear and understandable, informative and persuasive.
Ability to communicate ideas, thoughts, and meaning to articulate one s position clearly. Ability to make incisive, coherent presentations, and respond to rapid questioning on difficult issues.
Advanced knowledge of computing tools and modern administrative information systems, including UCSD resources (SQL, Data Warehouse, Millennium, Link Services).
Knowledge of Health Sciences business, functions and missions.
A background check is required.
