- Previous work experience in BSA/AML/OFAC Compliance field
- Knowledge of BSA/AML/OFAC laws and regulations
Supports the BSA/AML/OFAC Compliance function for assigned regional bank(s) within the financial services holding company. Fulfills regulatory requirements relating to required monitoring and reporting in support of the bank's BSA/AML compliance programs. Basic knowledge of BSA/AML/OFAC laws and regulations is required in the performance of job responsibilities.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Supports the Synovus Financial Corporation Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering Program for assigned bank(s) by directing work efforts to ensure compliance with noted laws and regulations, and with applicable policies, procedures, and processes.
Assists in identifying BSA/AML/OFAC compliance risk and assists with ensuring that proper controls, procedures, processes and training are in place to mitigate these risks.
Assists with preparation for BSA/AML/OFAC regulatory examinations and audits and assists with implementation of corrections for any noted deficiencies.
Assists with detection of patterns, trends and unusual activity through monitoring suspicious transactions and reviewing various reports. Investigates/refers suspicious transactions to assists in the completion SAR forms when required.
Works closely with senior specialist, unit manager and BSA Compliance Managers and auditors. Assists with the completion of documentation as needed by senior specialist and unit manager for department reporting as requested.
Supports these functions: Completes CTR reporting through use of the automated CTR system; MIL log monitoring and documentation; OFAC screening resolutions, OFAC List Update processing and documentation.
Develops a general understanding of company/bank operations organizational functions and dynamics of the financial service business.
Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
Performs other related duties as required.
