Job Description

Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for inspecting and repairing fleet vehicles, performing preventative maintenance on vehicles periodically, evaluating and coordinating repairs under warranty, and performing inspections on new vehicles.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Perform repairs on vehicles, notify appropriate personnel for transportation to auto and body shops if required and enter status of vehicles to computer.

2. Inspect vehicles for mechanical problems; document problems and actions needed to repair vehicles.

3. Order vehicle parts and supplies to maintain and update department inventory; coordinate the acquisition and disposal of waste products.

4. Monitor computer for updates and perform routine and preventative maintenance on vehicles including oil changes, tire changes and parts replacement.

5. Perform state vehicle safety inspections on new vehicles and assist with in-fleeting new vehicles as required.

6. Perform various warranty repairs as identified in technical service bulletins and/or recall notices.

7. Perform related responsibilities as required or assigned.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge and Skill
? Thorough knowledge of mechanical repair procedures for vehicles.
? Thorough knowledge of automobile parts and operation.
? Knowledge of CRT operation.
? Ability to negotiate with vendors on materials and supplies.
? Ability to operate mechanical tools including tire machines, balance machines, battery chargers and AC vacuum motors.
? Basic knowledge of the car rental industry.
? Good oral and written communication skills.
? Ability to prioritize tasks.
? Ability to work independently.
? Ability to identify problems in vehicle operation and effectively determine a plan of resolution.

Required Education/Experience
? High School Diploma or Equivalent; Vocational training or the equivalent in Automotive Mechanics or a related field.
? Three years experience in H/VAC, electrical repair, or general mechanics.
? Position requires at least 2 ASE certifications.
? Valid driver's license as required by state.
