Job Description
An Account Manager is the primary source of contact with the Corporation s current and prospective customers. This person will work closely with both multi-national and small to medium sized Customers. This critical position requires engagement with the Sales and Service Team as well as other key marketing, planning and operating functions. The successful candidate will have the responsibility to possess the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively and independently manage customer demands. The Account Manager will partner with and ensure the long-term success of our customers. This position is responsible for developing long-term relationships with a portfolio of customers, connecting with key business leaders and stakeholders. The Account Manager will coordinate between customers and cross-functional internal teams to ensure the timely and successful delivery of our material solutions according to our customer needs.

Promote and sell products to customers in the United States.
Obtains purchase commitments from existing customers and increases US Steel's participation in their business;
Negotiates pricing commitments with customers on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis.
Proactively and efficiently manages product mix portfolio across all accounts to maximize profitability
Facilitates sales and service activities across numerous entities within the Company while acting as the primary source of contact with customer base to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
Develop opportunity pipeline with all accounts, and efficiently progress opportunities through the sales funnel.
Actively manages account base while seeking to optimize participation, profitability, forecasting, inventory management, and shipping performance.
Ensure forecasts are accurately kept up to date monthly/quarterly/annually to reflect product production and shipping expectations.
Communicates market conditions, competitive intelligence, product development, and other key business drivers with Company commercial stakeholders.
Maintain and grow sales with existing customers.
Re-activate former customers, and target at least two new customers per year
Understand and meet customer products needs while optimizing U. S. Steel s operating margin, inventories and shipping performance.
Solicit prospective customers through professional networking, technical presentations, conferences and cold-calling to develop a qualified new customer base.
Travel to meet with customers on a consistent and frequent basis
Coordinate with inside sales, operations planning, technical experts, pricing managers and producing facilities to develop and meet sales and business objectives, and to assure customer satisfaction.
Provide U. S. Steel with current information regarding market conditions, pricing and new product development and related business intelligence.

Position is on a career ladder. Successful candidate will be placed on the ladder based upon demonstrated experience and abilities.

Bachelor s degree in business administration, marketing, supply chain management or a closely related field; AND
At least five years of experience in the steel/metals industry or appliance manufacturing, within sales, customer service, procurement or closely related function; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience;
Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% within North America;
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with all levels of internal and external contact.
