Job Description
This position will work with the Assistant Controller of a Fund in closing and preparing monthly, quarterly and annual packages for a public non-traded REIT.
Responsibilities:
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual closing packages and relatedsupporting schedules for the consolidated entity
Prepare initial draft of basic financial statements, including thestatement of cash flows. Coordinatereport disclosures with financial reporting team
Prepare detailed variance and fluctuation analyses in connectionwith closing packages
Review, analyze, and book journal entries for complex transactionsand activities, including but not limited to acquisitions, dispositions,refinancings, build to suit transactions, etc. Prepare and analyze foreigncurrency movements, as well as review and analyze complex foreign currencytransactions
Analyze intercompany and related-party transactions,perform reconciliations
Coordinate with third-party domestic and foreign financialstatement providers and review provided financial statements. Book relevant adjusting entries
Assist in preparing supporting schedules for auditors and respondingto audit inquiries
Requirements:
5+ years experience in a dynamic accountingenvironment; mixture of public/private experience ideal
Experience inreal estate and/or financial services preferred
BS/BA inAccounting and CPA
In depthexperience working with general ledger analysis, including booking journalentries and detailed account analyses
Significant experience with and knowledge offoreign currency transactions
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles in at least one of thefollowing areas: consolidations, equity method accounting; and, leaseaccounting
Ability to work independently and manage staffaccountants
Excellent analytical, problem solving, and abstract reasoningskills
Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
Ability to work with senior accounting and finance management in ateam environment
Proficientcomputer skills - knowledge of MRI, TM1 and/or Cognos software a plus
Excellent time management skills and ability to complete taskswithin assigned deadlines
