Armstrong Flooring, Inc. (AFI) has a job opportunity for an Accounting Specialist/Analyst to be located in Lancaster, PA. As a member of our Accounting Services team, Accounting Specialist/Analyst will be responsible for general accounting, standard reporting, budgeting & forecasting, compliance & internal control, support and accountability for offshore outsourced associates as well as liaising with manufacturing plants and business teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST/ANALYST:

* Performing general ledger, fixed asset, inventory, inventory valuations (LIFO, FIFO, PEOI) and inventory reserve/obsolescence accounting for manufacturing locations
* Creating, posting, and monitoring journal entries and accruals
* Overseeing reconciliation of general ledger and sub ledger accounts including auditing account reconciliations applicable to area of responsibility
* Liaison with manufacturing facilities to input and maintain into SAP applicable product costing master data including standard costs, bill of materials and routings necessary for product cost and shop floor controls
* Performing accounting closing activities with a special focus on manufacturing
* Preparing actionable reporting and analysis to support the company's financial manufacturing closings and internal/external reporting processes and to ensure the reliability of reported results
* Communicating with colleagues at various manufacturing locations to resolve issues and closing discrepancies and follows through with appropriate action
* Recommending, developing, and implementing changes to continually improve processes, support standardization, and the effectiveness of the Finance and Accounting Services team
* Negotiating and coordinating unique business processes into one standardized efficient process
* Supporting and providing the appropriate level of oversight and review for activities performed by offshore associates for US manufacturing locations
* Ensuring all schedules and deadlines are met on time and accurate in accordance with Service Level Agreements
* Adhering to and interpreting Corporate accounting policies and guidelines
* Documenting policies, procedures, workflow, and checklists for assigned responsibilities
* Providing SOX compliance and audit reviews

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST/ANALYST:

* Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
* 3+ years of accounting experience
* Ability to exercise independent judgment to ascertain the reasonableness and accuracy of information
* Proficiency in MS Office Suite - particularly MS Excel
* Ability to work cross functionally with other groups within Armstrong
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
* Capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities
* Excellent written and verbal communications with the ability to share knowledge at appropriate levels of the organization
* Customer focused with strong attention to detail and capable of delivering accurate, quality results in a timely, consistent, and professional manner
* Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to interact comfortably and respectfully with all levels of plant and corporate personnel
* Proven ability to successfully manage and resolve conflict

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST/ANALYST:

* Manufacturing accounting experience
* SAP/ BW including SAP Manufacturing experience
