This position independently performs assigned accounting functions requiring the application of accounting principles and practices.


* Performs standardized accounting routines to process accounts payable; obtains payment authorization, generates checks, and processes for payment
* Manages Accounts Payable including customer and vendor relations
* Performs a variety of accounting assignments including daily reporting, maintenance of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and project accounting; ensures accuracy and timeliness
* Checks completeness and mathematical accuracy of repetitive accounting documents; makes simple adjustments with the appropriate concurrence of a supervisor
* Posts accounting information where the identification and location of postings are clearly indicated; matches invoices received to purchase, requisition, and receiving documentation; checks accuracy; applies or verifies coding; posts; and schedules payment in keeping with standard procedures
* Develops, implements and maintains systems, procedures and policies, including accounts payable functions to ensure adherence to company guidelines
* Manages monthly closing of financial records and posting of month end information; ensures accuracy of financial statements
* Identifies discrepancies and determines alternative courses of action
* Provides accounting assistance to project managers and operations staff; responds to financial questions/concerns to meet business needs
* Acts as a liaison between the company, government and external accountants to meet information needs and to ensure that proper information is maintained for historical purposes
* Assembles, analyzes, and audits various accounts (e.g., makes standard reconciliations); verifies payment
* Assists with audit schedule preparation
* Performs other accounting or financial tasks which may be required on an as-needed basis


* Must have a minimum of five (5) plus years of experience in Accounting field
* Must have a minimum of a Bachelors' degree in Accounting
* Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills
* Must have a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
* Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting practices and all related legislation and regulation
* Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with a focus on Excel spreadsheets
* Must exhibit a high level of confidentiality with work product
