Job Description
PRIMARY ROLE
The Accounts Payable Supervisor will be responsible for directing and coordinating all aspects of vendor invoice processing and vendor payment functions for Global Business Services (GBS). In addition, a significant portion of this role will be utilized to ensure SOX compliance while obtaining maximum efficiency and effectiveness in our processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES
30%
Oversee the day-to-day activity of the Accounts Payable group. Provide necessary supervision, guidance and mentoring to accounts payable staff. Ensure annual career development plans are prepared. Oversee the preparation of the year-end IRS Form 1099 s for all non-incorporated payees for review by the Tax Department. Assist Manager with month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing procedures and reporting schedules. Ensure sensitive and confidential information is handled appropriately.

25% Will have regular and on-going interaction with employees at all levels as well as outside suppliers. Maintain sufficient records to support expenses and payments to vendors. Coordinate payment timetables through communication to functional business managers and accounts payable staff. Review and approve new vendors in the accounts payable system. Work with the Supplier Registration team for any questions regarding duplicate vendors and general vendor questions. Monitor all recurring rent and tax payments to vendors. Monitor and assure all past due invoices are approved and processed.

25% Assist in developing policies and procedures that support Shire s business objectives and ensure the effective and efficient processing of financial information to support Shire s global growth. Act as a financial information resource and be a proactive business partner supporting all of Shire s operations. Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local statutory and government reporting requirements.

Perform special projects as required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
BA / BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
Experience in service-oriented or regulated industries is desired.
Experience with SAP and/or JD Edwards would be a plus
Minimum of 5 years experience with at least 2 years of management / supervisory experience
