Job Description

Summary Notifies or locates customers with delinquent accounts and attempts to secure payment by performing the following duties. (Employees performing this job are divided into 7 groups with specific duties on the attachments.)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Mails form letters to customers to encourage payment of delinquent accounts

Confers with customer by telephone in attempt to determine reason for overdue payment, reviewing terms of credit contract with customer

Notifies supervisor if customer fails to respond

Records information about financial status of customer and status of collection efforts

Grants extensions of credit

Accepts personal responsibility for actions

Confidentiality of customer information is maintained

Demonstrates the ability to organize and use time effectively, prioritizes work flow and meets deadlines

Secondary Duties

Successfully complete all required Computer Based Training courses timely

Must be able to handle special assignments with little or no direct supervision

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience

Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Language Skills

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing using the English language; Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations; Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages and volume; Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra
