The Administrative Assistant performs standard and advanced secretarial duties under limited supervision. The assistant will be expected to use extensive knowledge of department policies and procedures, while operating under a high level of technical skills. This individual types a wide variety of materials, including confidential reports and correspondence. Schedules meetings and appointments and maintains daily calendar for manager/supervisor. Makes travel arrangements when necessary. Records and transcribes minutes of meetings; distributes to appropriate personnel. Receives visitors, answers telephone and screens to determine needs and refers to appropriate area or individual. Provides administrative support to the manager. Sorts and files correspondence and other documents. Creates and maintains a filing system. Sorts and distributes department mail. Orders supplies as necessary to maintain adequate inventory. Prepares reports, graphs and other presentation material as instructed. At all times the administrative assistant must demonstrate professional communication skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

Required Skills

Minimum Requirements:

* High school diploma or GED

* Three (3) years experience in an administrative support role

* Must be able to type 60 wpm

* Good communication and customer service skills

* General computer competence to include basic Word and potential to be trained on specific software for patient information, billing and communication
