JOB DUTIES:

The Clinic Assistant II will provide patient focused medical practice administrative support to assigned areas in the UCLA Family Health Center. Work as a dedicated member of the Family Health Center clinic team to provide smooth outpatient flow resulting in optimum patient satisfaction and clinic operation. Duties include assisting in a heavy call volume phone center, scheduling patients and taking detailed patient messages, patient front desk registration, processing insurance referrals, explaining billing policies and procedures and verifying authorizations for patients. Incumbent must have the skills required to work in a fast paced, cross trained, team focused environment. Work is assigned and reviewed by the Practice Manager. Incumbents are expected to work with minimal supervision; periodic and regular progress checks are performed to evaluate and adjust workload accordingly.



JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to coordinate multiple appointments with staff from many clinical services at the UCLA Medical Center. Skill in using a PC with associated programs including: Care Connect EPIC, Word, Excel, and E-mail. Demonstrated work experience with a database computer program. Knowledge of major medical insurance plans and types of coverage provided. Working knowledge of the Care Connect EPIC computer system and to complete on-line transactions, including appointment scheduling, procedure scheduling, encounter registration system, hospital lab results and medical reports. Knowledge of medical terminology. Current knowledge of major medical insurance plans and types of coverage provided. Successful completion of Care Connect training as required for access to Encounter Registration. Successful completion of BRITE training courses designed with a steadfast commitment to adult learning methodologies.
