Layoff Referral Deadline:
Answer, and screen incoming calls providing general information to callers regarding practice activities or referring callers. Take phone messages. Schedule new patients, consultation and follow-up appointments through registration system (i.e. MCCS, PM, EPIC). Review patient referral forms and fill out intake information. Collect and/or verify appropriate demographic, authorization and insurance information on all patients and record using the Registration System.
Request authorizations as required for follow-up patients. Contact patients by telephone to confirm appointments or cancellations. Arrive patients for check-in. Collect payments from patients at the time of service or discharge. Provide patients with AVS upon discharge.
Customer service skills. Answer phone calls. Ability to communicate clearly to co-workers, physicians and patients while implementing CICARE. Ability to explain departmental billing policies and procedures to patients. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with physicians and staff in a high volume setting. Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments. Skill in efficiently and accurately facilitating the appointment making process, including transportation arrangements and maintain sub-specialty physician schedules. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to coordinate multiple appointments with staff from many clinical services at the UCLA Medical Center.Skill in using a PC with associated programs including Word, Excel, and E-mail. Demonstrated work experience with a database computer program. Knowledge of major medical insurance plans and types of coverage provided. Working knowledge of MCCS system and SYSM Communications systems to complete on-line transactions, including appointment scheduling, procedure scheduling, encounter registration system, hospital lab results and medical reports.Knowledge of medical terminology.
