This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FIrstEnergy Corp. [FEU] The position of Business Analyst for PJM Interconnections and Reporting requires self-direction and an ability to quickly grasp the various processes necessary for interconnecting generators to the FirstEnergy transmission and distribution system. The position involves coordinating a large number of projects being analyzed by Planning and Protection and creating detailed Facilities studies that compile the technical data of substation, transmission line, SCADA, protection, and planning engineers. This position works with a wide variety of departments, including Real Estate, Legal, and Environmental, to understand their project issues and assure all assumptions are itemized in the Facilities reports. The individual develops a total cost for various studies and externally reimbursed projects by collating multiple estimates into project groupings and applying overheads. The individual participates on PJM conference calls to manage the Feasibility, Impact, and Facilities studies and track projects through construction. The position interacts with developers to provide explanations of FE estimates and guidance on achievable schedules that meet realistic in-service dates. This position will provide status and budget reports for the department, such as Key Performance Indicator (KPI) updates, estimated vs. actual budget performance, and portfolio scoping tracking. Responsibilities:
? Coordinating multi-department PJM interconnection study processes such that tariff requirements for feasibility, impact, facilities and connection agreements are met. This includes identification of all requirements, including studies, schedules and estimates that assure on time completion for PJM and externally reimbursed projects. ? Reviewing completed estimates to assure realistic costs and challenge estimators if costs appear out of line. ? Adding overheads (gross-up) for PJM and externally reimbursed projects. ? Managing completion of PJM Feasibility, Impact, and Facilities reports. ? Requesting subject matter expert input and review of Facilities reports; assuring all stakeholders are represented and their work completed on time. ? Creating a realistic comprehensive schedule for completion of engineering and construction for PJM GIP Facilities reports, using individual estimate schedules. ? Compiling comprehensive and complete Facilities reports. ? Issuing weekly executive updates on the status of Feasibility & Impact reports. ? Participating on monthly department status calls for Facilities and PJM GIP Construction projects. ? Participating on PJM conference calls for PJM GIP Feasibility, Impact, Facilities, and Construction projects and track status. ? Providing monthly department reports on KPI progress, estimated vs. actual budget performance, portfolio scoping tracking, etc. An employee hired at the Senior Business Analyst level will be expected to perform all of the above responsibilities with more proficiency, and in a more independent manner. Further, the Senior level employee will be assigned additional responsibilities related to those above.
? Four year degree in a related discipline, with a minimum 7 years professional work experience is preferred. An advanced degree or professional certification preferred. In lieu of a degree, 10 years of direct, related experience will be considered. ? Sufficient knowledge of cost estimation and application to assure comprehensive and complete gross-ups and Facilities reports are compiled. ? Collaborate with system protection engineering to assure generation connection standards are met and remote ends are not missing from estimate gross-ups. ? Work safely. ? Working knowledge of overhead applications, tax rates, and escalation. ? Facilitate a team work environment to assure all subject matter experts provide complete and accurate input for Facilities reports. ? Able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. ? Working knowledge of applicable computer software necessary to fulfill job duties. ? Exceptional organization skills. Ability to manage a large number of projects simultaneously. ? Ability to work effectively under the pressure of deadlines, unexpected developments, changes in project scope, budget constraints, unforeseen field problems and demands on time for work assignments outside of the normal duties. ? Ability to prioritize in the face of conflicting demands. ? Strong coordination and facilitation skills to manage meetings, presentations and communications directed at external organizations and internal department leadership. ? Collaborative. Must develop and maintain personal relationships to facilitate the cooperation needed to complete assigned tasks and inspire others to achieve or exceed goals. ? Ability to work effectively with people at all levels across the FE organization as well as with outside parties. ? Decisive. Ability to make practical and timely decisions based on the best information available at the time. ? Cross-functional. Ability to collaborate across the design organization to define, develop and maintain tactical and strategic metrics to measure and improve PJM interconnection, design and equipment procurement processes. ? Exceptional communication skills and attention to detail that support creation of comprehensive project status reports and result in clear and concise correspondence with accurate information. ? Customer service focus to support positive interaction and engaged relationships with external partners. ? Must possess strong organizational, computer, and problem solving skills. ? Self-directed. Ability to independently define the approach and path forward given the vision, objectives and goals. ? Ability to support numerous locations and ability to travel throughout the service area. ? Curious, open to tackling new concepts, with the ability to quickly grasp the various processes necessary for the successful interconnection of generators to the FirstEnergy transmission and distribution system. At the Senior Business Analyst level, qualifications include all of the above, plus:
