The Data Insights team at Stanford GSB is charged with realizing the strategic initiative of enabling a culture of data driven decision making across the organization. To that end, we're hiring an experienced Analytics Engineer; to craft exemplary solutions that will be used by leaders in the organization, world renowned faculty and the topmost business students in the world.

As the ideal candidate, you have broad portfolio of hands-on skills. You're experienced in dashboarding and viz technologies e.g. Tableau, D3; in statistical programming e.g. R; working with data warehouse platforms; basics of SQL. You're a bootstrapper and rapid learner. You've worked independently and in teams, esp remote ones. You thrive on change, handling multiple priorities and still delivering stellar results. You have a strong personal project/task management ethic; you keep work organized and stakeholders informed. You can mentor others. You have a demonstrable track record of helping users see beyond immediate needs, to a big picture.

Job Purpose:

Responsible for performing difficult or complex analysis, design and programming involving multi-project leadership and broad responsibility in support of new and existing Business Intelligence(BI) and other projects.

Core Duties:

Lead organization-wide complex data integration and business intelligence initiatives; ensure initiatives directly support the organizational mission and are delivered on schedule.

Guide business users in shaping needs into solutions that maximize strategic value.

Lead local and/or remote teams, as necessary, working on all phases of BI application development process.

Lead and own organization-wide complex business intelligence reporting and analysis initiatives; ensure initiatives directly support the organizational mission and are delivered on schedule and budget.

Architect full solutions and take ownership as SME and Technical lead for on-going support and projects as assigned.

Perform data integrity and ETL code utilizing structured programming techniques and tools; provide thorough internal documentation. Coordinate code promotion, code turnover to operations, version control, and QA procedures.

Coordinate the development and enrichment of enterprise data warehouse assuring reporting system development builds upon the existing data foundation Ensure the understanding of technical strategies and vision to project participants.

Convey problems, risk assessment and solutions to peers, and management.

Partner with manager to help team scale capacity - champion project processes, mentor team members, foster collaboration, build self service for departments, build a reusable platform.

Translate structured and unstructured business questions into data analytic problems; create appropriate analyses, collaborate with business users to create a working solution using the best fit technology platform.

Monitor industry for emerging technologies and trends; provide appropriate recommendations to senior management.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree and nine years of relevant experience in computer science, or engineering or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Strong, demonstrable experience in solving analytics problems - from business requirements through concept to all components of technical solutioning - data architecture, data modeling, implementation.

Very strong conceptual and hands-on experience in BI related technologies - ETL, data warehouses, SQL etc.

Very strong hands-on experience on statistical programming platforms e.g. R, SAS, SPSS etc.

Strong hands-on experience on dashboarding technologies e.g. D3, Tableau, Qlikview etc

Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl etc a significant plus.

Experienced at leading projects, mentoring technical team members, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines with minimal oversight.

Strong PM skills, experienced in working with standard software development lifecycle.

Experienced in working with business users, helping them understand complex scenarios and the power of data driven decision making. Examples strongly preferred.

Self-motivated with high degree of initiative and excellent follow-up skills.

Strong at written and oral communication; proven presentation experience; comfortable interacting with senior management audiences.erience; comfortable interacting with senior management audiences.

Experienced at being the technology leader of the team - stay connected to industry, provide succinct input and recommendations to management.

Physical Requirements:

Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.

Frequently sitting.

Occasionally stand/walk.

Rarely writing by hand; lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
