JOB DESCRIPTION

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Provides recommendations, quotes and executes large and small projects independently and/or as part of a project team.

* Makes customer visits as required to qualify opportunities, determine scope and define solutions and provide technical sales assistance on large projects.

* Provides project engineering on all projects, collaborating with teams that may consist of staff, contract and customer personnel.

* Performs project and on-site engineering services including programming, start-up, training, modifications and troubleshooting on revenue generating projects.

* Maintains an excellent working knowledge of typical applications in at least one target market and a good working knowledge of most applications in all other target markets.

* Maintains an excellent working knowledge of all products used in typical applications and how to successfully integrate those products into solutions in at least one target market and a good working knowledge of all products used in most applications and how to successfully integrate those products into solutions in all other target markets

* Maintains records of all significant customer contact into CRM software to allow for measurement and control of response time and effectiveness.

* Provide complete and timely communication to appropriate sales person.

* Maintains log of problems so that reoccurring problems can be reported to proper product development personnel.

* Reports design, quality, reliability and maintenance problems or bugs to design engineering/software engineering.

Provides first level of escalation from Technical Support personnel for technical support assistance.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Provides project management on all projects, including managing project teams that may consist of staff, contract and customer personnel.

* Project management responsibilities include quotation, specification and project plan generation, execution and management, resource allocation and management, material specification and procurement, project documentation, project scheduling and execution and ultimately, project on-time performance and profitability.

* Provides independent factory and field troubleshooting and training for products used in at least one target market.

* Conducts factory and field training classes for customers and company personnel on products used in at least one target market.

* Achieves familiarity and working knowledge to provide back-up capability in support of all non-systems products

* Answers back-up telephone help desk requests and faxed or electronic inquiries from customers regarding specific company products and applications.

* Provides secondary technical support to customers, field engineers, and sales channels on configuration, operation, maintenance, programming, and troubleshooting of specific Eurotherm non-system and systems products and applications.

* Provides instrument and system level software and communications support to customers. Provides recommendations, diagnoses and troubleshoots customer applications remotely or on site.

Responds to situations as first-line system support and as a resource for escalated product support from Tech Support personnel to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

* Well trained in electrical engineering and basics of electronics and control theory.

* Fully familiar with computer operation, operating systems, office software, networks.

* Has broad knowledge and experience with PID control, continuous and sequential control theory, PLC's communications common communications protocols and popular SCADA and HMI software packages.

* Significant experience with PLCs and machine control applications.

* Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with control instrumentation.

* Familiarity with configuration and programming of micro based instrumentation.

* Knowledge of field engineering skills, project management skills, test equipment, electrical safety and good engineering practices.

* Knowledgeable in use of AutoCAD drawing package.

* Experience in creating lesson plans and conducting training.

* Self-motivator with good communications skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Typically a Bachelors degree in Engineering or an Associate degree with significant experience. Ten years experience with industrial control in support or field engineering or in a project engineering capacity. Must have proven successful project management experience.
