JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Facilities Physical Plant Manager I, the Arborist Senior specializes in the care, nurturing, maintenance, and cultivation of trees campus-wide, including all aspects of pruning, felling, planting, fertilizing, and protecting trees; Conducts campus-wide assessments of urban forest in accordance with the standards set by the International Society of Arboriculture; Carries out detailed surveys of sites to record the number of trees and their condition, and decides what work needs to be done; Estimates costs for the work to be carried out; Initiates and participates in the development of vendor bid specifications; Oversees contracts and contractors; Performs professional tree, hedgerow, shrub, and flora work, including undertaking thinning, pruning, topping, felling, planting or transplanting; Advises on proper tree selection and specific planting preparations/procedures depending on soil conditions, situation, and visual qualities; Instructs tree trimmers and groundsmen in arborist work; Inspects trees, shrubs, and flowerbeds to determine the need for trimming, spraying, or other appropriate treatment; Examines trees in significant detail to ensure their safeguarding; Treats disease spread in trees; Ensures the health and aesthetic facts related to the good living of trees; Provides expertise in support of the campus-wide University Landscape Master Plan; Ensures planning requests meet legislation and preservation requirements; and Performs work with considerable independence within departmental and horticultural guidelines.

MS Windows/Office; SAP; KRONOS; ArborPro; Driver s License.
DOES THIS POSITION HAVE SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES*
Certification by the International Society of Arborculture (ISA); Certified Applicator of Pesticides; Certified ISA Tree Risk Assessor (TRA).
