NCI: As the Archival Photographic Specialist, you will scan and electronically archive an array of retrospective negatives located in the NASA Langley Research Center Photo Archives.

Highlights of Responsibilities:
* Scan and electronically archive an array of retrospective negatives located in the NASA Langley Research Center Photo Archives.* Retrieve physical folders from designated locations in the physical archive and prepare negatives prior to scanning. This will require organizing the negatives, performing remedial repair work to a damaged film (i.e. taping torn negatives, cleaning, etc.), and setting the negatives up on the scanning equipment. * Use a Hasselblad X5 scanner, scan various sizes of negatives, (8'x10', 4'x5', 6'x7', 6'x6', 70mm, 35mm, 16 mm, x-rays, and slides) according to established NASA Langley scanning procedures, at the highest resolution specified. * Process each scanned image, adjusting for film type, dust, scratches, overall exposure, cropping, and color balancing using Adobe Creative Suite Photoshop to ensure quality scans. Each scanned image must be technically and artistically correct. * Use established naming conventions, store raw electronic files onto archival BluRay discs and external hard drives. * Produce accompanying thumbnail images at 500x500 pixels and import them into the archival database in batches corresponding to each raw disc. * Utilize the Media Services Branch work control database to keep track of all images with respect to which need scanning, which have been scanned, or which have existing master files. * Re-file archival folders following scanning and electronic archiving. * Meet all priority deadlines and maintain an established production rate. * Adhere to all NASA/NCI safety, security and administrative policies as specified. * Perform other related duties as may be assigned
Requirements:
* 3 years of experience using a full spectrum of photographic stills and negative types. * 3 years of experience using Adobe CS4 Photoshop to perform cropping, color correcting (curves, contrast), batch processing, etc. on a Macintosh platform. * 3 years of experience in color theory including: black and white balancing. * 2 years of experience in electronic file storage techniques. * 2 years experience maintaining and assigning numbering in proper resolution. * 3 years of experience basic MS Word and Excel applications.* Work 2nd Shift 3:30PM to Mid-Night for one month.
