Summary The primary function of the Area BT Sales Manager is to assist in the development and implementation of Sales and Marketing strategies, along with the selling of transient rooms for the purpose of maximizing profits for both our hotels located in Queens; LaGuardia Plaza and Hampton Inn. Area Business Transient Sales Manager The Area Business Transient Sales Manager is responsible for effectively soliciting and becoming familiar with all accounts in their assigned market segment. Accountable for prospecting goals and closing on assigned accounts/territory to positively impact hotel revenues. Responsible for the direct booking of group rooms for various business clients. Maximize profitability and revenue of the hotel by upselling in order to achieve sales goals: Candidates most successful in this role will display the following characteristics: Analytical Skills Ability to conduct proper research on group rates, food and beverage minimums as well as room rental. Sales Skills Possess strong ability to influence and/or persuade buying decisions and to close sales or gain commitment from others; create good rapport and exhibit the ability to grow and maintain key partnerships. Communication Have both verbal and written skills, in order to effectively execute meetings and events. This includes keeping the appropriate departments informed with BEOs and other necessary information; Actively listens to extract essential information in order to maximize revenue and execute successful meetings and events. Advanced Organizational Skills - Ability to determine priority tasks and maintain strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have experience and dedication in growing this market, an ability to foster customer relationships both internally and externally, and strong oral and written communication skills. This candidate will have a professional demeanor and strong selling technique and strategies; be solution-oriented, work independently and be a self-starter. This person must have the ability and desire to achieve monthly room night goals, develop and implement sales action plans, and maintain positive interdepartmental communications. There is some travel associated with this position. Scope of Position: * Proactive prospecting/selling to develop new business opportunities and increase the Hotel's share of existing accounts (in person, via telephone, and electronic media). * Develop and increase transient sales in markets such as local negotiated accounts, corporate, consortia, government and BAR. * Make weekly telephone, e-mail and outside sales calls, travel agency presentations, and be actively involved in industry associations and trade shows. 40' of your time will be spent actively making sales calls outside of the hotel. * Ensure revenue goals are met (i.e. room nights, ADR, RevPar). Ensure rates are competitive and offer highest yield to ensure maximum profitability. This includes annual rate negotiations for renewal of existing accounts and continuous acquisition of new accounts. * Develop thorough knowledge of volume, trends, rates at competitor hotels, and opportunities in each market. * Monitor and provide feedback regarding hotel's performance through the review of STAR reports, Hotelligence, forecasts, Lanyon, Cvent, and sales reports from sales database and property management systems. * Prepare and present effective proposals, maintain well organized documentation and reports and develop and maintain relationships with national brand Account Directors. * Negotiate rates, terms and conditions with clients using effective revenue management practices and strategies. * Oversee and respond to the annual RFP process as well as all RFP's related to this market throughout the year. * Assist Area Director of Sales with developing strategies and implementing actions to generate revenues for the hotel in the BTS market. * Oversee, manage and attend the weekly Manager's Receptions. * Other Duties as required and assigned Attend weekly sales meetings.
