The Area Sales Manager will provide sales activity & support for their assigned properties. This position will partner with Sales and Marketing leadership, and any members of the area team, to execute a comprehensive strategic plan to grow market share for their assigned Hotels. As an Area Sales Manager, this individual will develop strong partnerships with customers for the purpose of penetrating and growing market share and driving sales for the area hotels. The position will focus specifically on growing revenues from catering, preferred corporate and group revenue. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Execute the solicitation efforts for the area hotels through effective oral and written communication while adhering to strategy pertaining to rate, date and space commitments Participate in training programs which are conducted regularly and follow SHG standards of performance Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients Conduct well developed and delivery of sales presentations during client site inspections, outside sales calls, and client entertaining opportunities Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear support to Area DOS as needed. Attend scheduled sales department and related meetings Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis Knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic factors Skill in development and delivery of sales presentations Ability to access, understand and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system Ability to effectively listen, communicate and perform diplomacy with internal and external customers and staff in all situations Ability to stand and move throughout the hotel property and continuously perform essential job functions Complete all group, transient, and catering/banquet sales activities to maximize revenue for the area hotels Follow rate, group sales and catering deployment strategies for each Hotel. Professionally represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events as directed by Area DOS.
