Accountable for assisting in day to day operations of assigned work teams at client site. Build, improve & maintain relationships with clients & employees; develop and retain staff; coordinate needed support services to effectively run the accounts to meet or exceed financial & operational goals & provide quality customer service. Maintains weekly operating schedules and completes payroll for assigned security personnel. Provides after hour response at client site as required including but not limited to emergency response and discipline issues.


POSITION: Asst. Account Manager / Dock Manager (Salaried)

LOCATION/DEPARTMENT: Duke Energy Center, Charlotte Uptown/Security Department

REPORTS TO: ABSS Account Manager / Site Manager

PURPOSE: Primarily responsible for managing dock operations at the Duke Energy Center. Also responsible for assisting the security department in the development, operation and administration of all physical security services within a building. Other administrative and support duties as assigned.


Provides administration for the operation, maintenance, and security of the loading dock

Provides assistance to tenants regarding dock information, rules and regulations, scheduling, and transient docking.

Coordinates periodic input and information meetings with various customer groups at the dock; develops agendas, considers identified issues and makes recommendations to resolve.

Assigns dock spaces and elevators to include maintaining records and the collection and disposition of applicable fines and corrective actions for violations.

Supervises in-house personnel engaged in providing for the security, care and safety of pallet-jacks, equipment, vehicles, docks, and facilities.

Supervises dock personnel assigned to area; schedules, assigns work, evaluates performance, disciplines, and makes recommendations for hire.

Prepares and maintains various records or reports concerning dock activities.

Inspects vehicles, docks, levelers, facilities for adherence to established safety policies and for the purpose of preventing accident or injury to personnel and patrons.

Meet customer/scheduling requirements & assisting freight handlers & drivers with daily activity. Report all matters that have or could have the potential to significantly impact building operations.

Provide initial and on-going training to each officer and supervisor under your direct supervision. Ensure that consistent, similar training is provided for all personnel.

Ensure that Supervisors properly prepare dock access logs, visitor sign in logs, daily activity and incident reports. Routinely conduct inspections of these reports.

Assist the ABSS Site Manager in the training, operation and administration of all physical security services within a building.

Functions as the active personnel recruiter for the Childress Klein Properties account, and the Wells Fargo portfolio, by engaging designated Account Managers and insuring required staffing balances are maintained.

Perform project management duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor degree, or equivalent experience in Criminal Justice, Business or other related field; three to five years experience as a supervisor or manager; prior security, military, police, or related experience. Training or experience in the use of Windows applications to include Outlook, Word, Excel, and others.

Communication Skills:

Ability to read and understand directions and instructions. Ability to write training manuals, prepare PowerPoint presentations, and business correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with excellent presentation skills to deliver information, and respond to questions from the general public, tenants, employees, and superiors.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must be able to obtain certification with NCPPSB. Prefer persons with CPP, BLET, EMT, and/or CPR/First Aid certifications.

Computer Skills

Proficient use of Windows operating systems, intermediate to advanced skills in PowerPoint and Outlook, and intermediate to advanced skills in Word and Excel required.
